Nail Trends That Will Define Summer 2026

The Six Shades of Summer

Terracotta & Spice — Sun-baked earthy oranges and warm browns. Rich, universally flattering, and perfect against a tan.

Lavender Haze — From soft mauves to bold lilacs, purple nails are the dreamiest option of the season. Pairs unexpectedly well with everything.

Botanical Green — Sage, moss, and deep forest tones. Nature-inspired and far chicer than you'd expect.

Milky Sheer Nude — The updated glazed nail: creamy, opaque, and polished. The "no-nail-look" nail look.

Midnight Navy — Inky and cool. The anti-trend that somehow keeps showing up everywhere, and for good reason.

Gold Chrome — Mirror-finish metallics that catch the light. One coat, maximum impact, no nail art skills required.

Nail Art Is Back

Beyond colour, it's the return of actual nail art that's made the biggest splash. Think graphic lines in a contrasting colour, a single accent nail with a minimal floral, or negative-space designs that let the natural nail become part of the composition. Executed in muted tones or metallics, it feels genuinely editorial rather than crafty.

Shapes & Lengths

The almond shape is the go-to of the season: elongating, flattering on every nail width, and versatile at short or medium lengths. On the opposite end, the short blunt square is having a real moment for those who want something more functional and modern. Long stilettos and extreme coffins are stepping back — the focus this summer is quality of finish over drama of length.

At Home vs. Salon

For intricate nail art or extensions, a good technician is worth it. For colour changes, a quality base coat, two thin coats of your shade, and a fast-dry top coat will carry you through the season. The real secret is patience between coats — rushing is always the enemy of a clean finish.
